EXTRA Net News - The Finnair strike is temporary over

7dec2009
Dear customers, partners and friends,

The strike of Finnair ground handling staff at Helsinki airport is over for the moment, or at least until next Tuesday.

There is no full agreement of the contract conditions yet, but the staff will return to work within today, the 04th December.

The negotiations are still ongoing but if there is no final agreement by next Tuesday, the 08th December, the strike might start again on Wednesday, the 09th December. Please see http://www.yle.fi/uutiset/news/2009/12/airport_walkout_ends_--_for_now_1240904.html

Finnairs flight operation is expected to be normalized within 2 to 3 days, so even though the strike is over for now, some disturbances are expected for the weekend.

As for all luggage which is being held at Helsinki airport, these will be distributed further to their final destination during the weekend, but as with the flight operation, it will take a few days until the situation is fully normalized.

We will revert to you with more information after the weekend if there is a risk the strike will start again.

Best regards,
